Today’s book is one from Mr N, The Best Game Ever by Brendan Fevola. This book is all about Aussie Rules Football, and it’s a story I didn’treally get in to, mostly because I’m not interested in football! I purchased this book for Mr N as a Christmas gift a few years ago as he has dreams of becoming a footballer when he grows up.
This book tells the story of a junior footy match between the Reds and the Blues. It explains the match, and at the end it has a glossary of the footy terms used.
One of the things I like about this book is how it explains what is happening on the field. It’s a good book for kids who are interested in finding out more about AFL and who want to play the game. It also has great tension at the end, before saying “Imagine this was the last Saturday in September”, referring to the Grand Final.
If you are a family with kids who are interested in AFL, or even who like finding out about sport, this is a great book to read.
