I “met” Nicky Johnston online during the 12×12 picture book writing challenge last year, and that is how I discovered today’s book, Go Away, Mr Worrythoughts.
This is a story about Bayden, a little boy with a special super powers, to get rid of Mr Worrythoughts.
Nicky wrote this book when her son had an anxiety disorder, and I’m so glad that she did. Last year, my younger son, Mr Z, was also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, so I purchased this book. Mr Z loves it and has read it many times. He also took it to show his psychologist, who also loved it.
One thing that I really enjoyed about reading this book was that it wasn’t a dark book. It explained about Bayden’s superpowers with accompanying illustrations and put it all in a positive light. There are also some great ideas to help kids deal with their worries. There are days when we have paper planes flying all over the place!!
