At Christmas, my brother and sister-in-law told me that I’m going to be an auntie again, so this book was topical for us. Ma! There’s Nothing to Do Here! by Barbara Park is a message from your unborn baby, and is a fun book to share with older kids who are waiting for a new sibling.
Inspired by an ultrasound, this story is a letter from the baby, talking about how there is nothing to do in the womb and dreaming of needing toys and people to play with before realising he’s not quite ready and is looking forward to meeting Mum and Dad.
It’s a cute story with a great rhythm and simple pictures. The one that had us laughing is the picture of the baby in a boat while in the womb.
I picked this book up from the library, and it was fun sharing it with my boys while they are looking forward to another cousin coming in the middle of the year.
