Today’s book is a classic – There’s a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake by Hazel Edwards.
First published in 1980, it is a book I loved when I was younger and I was surprised to discover that my boys hadn’t read it. This was another book in the newspaper giveaway, so it was wonderful to share this book with them as part of this challenge.
We all love the hippopotamus eating cake, and all the other things he gets up to on the roof.
It is a story that has stood the test of time and kids today will love it just as much as I did when I first read it. It also has a lovely twist at the end.
