Last year, the Herald Sun newspaper had a promotion of mini picture books. I collected these books – some I read when I was a kid and haven’t read since, and others I hadn’t read yet. Stickybeak by Hazel Edwards is the first of these books.
As a mother of school age children, the idea of what happens when a class pet comes home for the weekend is fun. While we haven’t had a class pet come home (yet), this book reminded me of when my sister had chickens. Stickybeak is a fun character who gets in to mischief, and I loved the twist at the end.
The illustrations added to the story, adding an extra layer to what the words were saying.
This is a fun book by an Australian author.
