Today’s book is one written and illustrated by one of my 12×12 buddies – Flap! by Alison K Hertz.
This book shows what happens when 7-year-old twins, Max and Katie, decide to teach their 4-year-old sister, Lilly, how to fly. Without giving too much away, they discover that saying FLAP just isn’t enough.
I really enjoyed this simple story and the illustrations complemented the words. It was fun and, as a big sister myself, a story that kids will enjoy. It reminded me a lot of some of the mischief my sister and I would play on our younger brothers. The ending is sweet too, possibly lending itself to another story…
